Gainesboro’s Contemporary Art Museum Welcomes New Exhibit: Soft Logic by Vickie Vainionpää
Gainesboro, Tennessee - May 2026
On May 30, Gainesboro Modern Museum of Contemporary Art opened a new exhibit in UNION - their special exhibition and events space located at 205 S. Union St.
Soft Logic showcases the works of Canadian artist Vickie Vainionpää exploring the interplay between digital systems and the physical, handmade surface. The resulting paintings feel at once controlled and intuitive—images that appear computational, yet remain firmly grounded in the artist’s hand. Visitors can enjoy this unique installation all summer, until Aug. 30.
“We’re thrilled to debut Vainionpää’s institutional solo exhibition at GaineMod,” beamed Cat Schmitz, museum co-founder and board chair. “Her work is shown internationally from Italy to China and has been featured in the Journal of Contemporary Painting, The Globe, and other publications…and, is now showing in Gainesboro, Tennessee!”
The artist has donated her 2025 Cherub VIII, a 24” x 20” oil on canvas painting, to GaineMod's permanent collection of cutting-edge art and expression.
GaineMod is located on Gainesboro’s historic courthouse square conveniently off Hwy. 56. Weekly hours are Thursday - Saturday, 10am to 5pm; Sunday, 11am to 3pm. Admission is always FREE.
